Woolf Works
Wayne McGregor’s Woolf Works at The Royal Ballet features striking, modernist costumes by designer Moritz Junge, which reflect the fluid, psychological landscapes of Virginia Woolf’s writing. Across the three acts inspired by Mrs Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves, the costumes shift from subtle, introspective palettes in I Now, I Then to more theatrical, gender-fluid attire in Becomings, and evocative, ensemble pieces in Tuesday. Junge’s work complements the abstract sets and rich choreography with pieces that emphasize movement, identity and emotional nuance throughout the triptych.
